What is the Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs?

The Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs (DFGC) is a volunteer organtization of women, men and youth, who share a common interest in gardening, floral design, civic beautification, conservation of our natural resources and environmental and legislative concerns.

Founded in 1958 and comprised of 28 clubs throughout the State, we are members of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., which consists of 51 State Federations, including the National Capitol Area, and National and International Affiliates. While there are diverse interest and backgrounds, our members are a force in Delaware unlike any other.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING A DFGC GARDEN CLUB ?

Meeting with others who share your interests in gardening and related subjects. Expanding your knowledge of horticulture and floral design.

Being part of an organization that can do something positive in your community.

Receive DFGC Newsletter 4 times a year.

Eligible to attend state meetings featuring knowledgable speakers 4 times a year.

Participate in special events such as bus trips and flower shows.

WHAT DO DFGC GARDEN CLUBS DO?

We promote civic development and service projects of individual clubs, encouraging clubs to apply for State, Regional and National Awards. Garden Therapy for the handicapped, Historic Preservation, and Habitat for Humanity as well as Community and Environmental projects are but a few of the programs our members are involved in.

We promote youth activities and Junior Garden Clubs.

We award an annual scholarship to local college students in Horticulture related majors.

We offer opportunities through participation in local, area and national schools and symposiums on floral design, landscape design gardening and environmental study.

Currently our membership is 820. We hope that you will consider becoming member of garden club in your area. Join us as we strive to improve the State of Delaware through beautification, conservation, civic and environmental projects and hopefully, leave a legacy for future generations.
