About Us

The GCFP

Welcome to the online home of over 6,000 Pennsylvania garden club members.

We are a charitable, volunteer organization of women, men and youth who share interests in gardening, civic beautification, floral design, conservation of natural resources, environmental and legislative issues through local clubs.

Membership in any of the garden clubs of the GCFP is open to all regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity or religious affiliation.

The GCFP is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world. NGC has 51 Federations, including each of the 50 states and the National Capital Area, and has national and international affiliates.

The National Garden Clubs, Inc., is divided into eight regions with Pennsylvania being part of the Central Atlantic Region. CAR is comprised of Pennsylvania and the neighboring states of Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and the National Capitol Area (parts of Virginia, Maryland, and all of the District of Columbia). The purpose of the regional area is to coordinate the efforts of the individual States with the National Garden Clubs, Inc.

The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania is divided into eleven (11) districts. Each district has a Director, Executive Board and District Chairmen who try to assist clubs in whatever way they can. Each District holds an Annual Meeting featuring an outstanding speaker in the fall of the year and most districts hold three additional meetings yearly to which all clubs are also invited. District newsletters are mailed to clubs about four times per year prior to meetings.

The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania holds an Annual Convention generally in April. This three-day event is held in various parts of the State and features notable speakers on horticulture, floral design, and related topics. Workshops and tours are also part of the busy schedule. During the Convention, the GCFP recognizes its members through an extensive Awards Program for both adults and youth. It promotes participation in Central Atlantic Regional and National Garden Clubs, Inc. Awards and Scholarships.

The Federation communicates with all of its members through The Keystone Gardener, the state publication, which is published and mailed to members quarterly at no additional charge. The magazine and this website keep members well informed on GCFP projects and activities.

Local Clubs welcome new members. Each club develops its schedule, its community projects and activities. Programs cover a wide range of topics on horticulture, floral design, conservation, birds and butterflies, "how-to crafts" and other projects.

If your local garden club is not a member of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania, and your club would like to join the federation, please use the following form:
