Penny Pines Reforestation Project:
The Davis Garden Club and the Youth Garden Club "Las Margaritas" are currently accepting donations to the Penny Pines Reforestation Project. The donations are used to replant burnt or otherwise damaged forests in conjunction with federal funds. A plantation consists of approximately 350 trees on a little than one acre. The Penny Pines Program is exclusive to California; trees being replanted are replacement trees native to the area, consisting of Cedar, Fir, Redwood, Oak and of course various Pine varieties. Our club will be donating to the Eldorado National Forest and a memorial plaque will be installed at the Ranger District Penny Pines Memorial for our donation. Please ask at the next meeting how you can donate to the Penny Pines Program.
Youth Club
"Las Margaritas" (little daisies) is a Second Grade Spanish immersion youth garden club held at the Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School each Friday during the school year from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Garden parent Christine Deamer runs the youth garden club. If your school is interested in becoming a Youth Garden club please contact Christine Deamer at cdeamer@davisgardenclub.org for sponsorship.
