About us

OnlineFlowers.com is the internet division of Swenson & Silacci Flowers, Inc., a Salinas landmark since 1945.

Swenson's Flowers was founded in 1945 by Walter "Dutch" Swenson & his wife, Bessie. In 1958, Edward Silacci joined the company as a delivery person. In 1966, Ed was made a partner in the business, changing the name to Swenson & Silacci Flowers. He was inducted as a Charter Member into AIFD, the industry's most prestigious design certification program. In 1993, Mark Silacci joined his father in the business after graduating with honors from the MBA program at Santa Clara University.

Over the years, the company has experienced significant growth. In 1995, we opened a second location in Monterey, CA. In 1997, www.OnlineFlowers.com was launched. In February 2001, we moved into our brand new main store in South Salinas - a spectacular 10,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility. Together we deliver throughout the entire Monterey County.

We are widely regarded as the best florist in Monterey County. Over the years, we have earned many awards and accolades. In 2004, we were named the "National Retail Florist of the Year" by the Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association. We've been voted the "Best Florist" in Monterey County for the past 8 years in the prestigious Coast Weekly "Best of Monterey County" competition. For the past 7 years, we've won the "Reader's Choice Award" in The Californian's reader's poll. We won the "Small Business of the Year" award from the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce in 1997. Finally, we are ranked in the "Top 50" florists in the nation by FTD.
