Welcome
The world is your garden

Avid Gardeners, southern Willamette Valley's newest gardening group, gets together to share their gardening knowledge, serve the greater horticultural community and have a good time in the process. If you'd like your gardening questions answered, or want to be in the company of fellow enthusiasts, join us on the third Sunday of the month, at the Garden Club,1645 High Street, in Eugene.

Mark your calendars for May 9, because once a year we organize along with the Willamette District Garden Clubs, the Oregon Plant Fair 2009, a gathering of specialty nursery growers and outstanding artists from all over the state. For one day only in beautiful Alton Baker Park, you can purchase hard-to-find beauties and great old favorite plants and exceptional artwork. Talk with some of the premier plants people who are leading the way toward the future in horticulture. Discover that piece of outdoor art that will complete your garden décor. And because our motto is The World is Your Garden, each year part of the proceeds are donated to an organization which is helping preserve and educate about our greater garden – the land that sustains us.

In addition to the monthly meetings, and the Plant Fair, Avid Gardeners put together yearly hands-on workshops, garden tours, and summer picnics at regional gardens and nurseries. You will find within our website a feature called Plant Profiles - reviews by members of their favorite plants. If you would like notification of our meetings, subscribe to "Alerts." Who we are:

The world is your garden

History

In 2006 in the southern Willamette Valley, a small gathering of avid gardeners, both amateurs and professionals, met to start a new gardening group. They wanted to propagate plant knowledge, encourage creativity in the use of the landscaping, and support responsible gardening practices for the greater good. They also wanted to have fun. As a result, Avid Gardeners was founded as a non-profit 501 C3 organization in 2007.
