A Major Flower & Horticulture Show -
Specially sanctioned by the Garden Club of America, this competitive event will include flower arranging, horticulture, photography, and botanical jewelry entries, as well as two educational exhibits -- all judged by 65 Garden Club of America-approved judges.
The theme Na Pua Ali‘i – Reflections on Hawai‘i’s Royal Legacy takes us back to the height of Victorian splendor, the coronation of King David Kalakaua and his Queen Kapi‘olani in 1883 and a 90-year period that transforms the Hawaiian Islands from traditional Polynesian chiefdom to contemporary European kingdom.
Take a step back in time and voyage with the ali‘i (kings) to foreign ports, enjoy entertaining distinguished guests from around the world in royal residences and gardens and learn of friendships and alliances cultivated with European monarchs and American presidents. Reflect for a moment on the romance, elegance, adventure and pioneering spirit of this special era in Hawaiian history.
Founded in 1930, the Garden Club of Honolulu strives to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and horticulture among its membership and general public, and to promote and participate in the restoration, improvement and protection of the environment through programs and actions in conservation, civic improvement and education.
